Magic Link Login
Magic links let people sign in from their inbox with a single click. No passwords to remember, no reset emails—just a secure, time-limited URL that recognises them instantly.
Before you start
- Make sure your site can send transactional email. We recommend using an SMTP service or a reliable WordPress email plugin so messages land in the inbox quickly.
- Decide how long your links should remain valid. Shorter expirations keep things secure, while longer windows are more forgiving for slower inboxes.
Turn Magic Link on
- Open Login Me Now → Settings → Login Providers → Magic Link.
- Enable Magic Link Login and save. The button appears on your public login form as soon as the module is active.
Customise the email experience
All copy lives in the same settings screen, so you can change the tone without touching code.
- Title – The heading at the top of the magic-link popup or panel.
- Description – Helper text that explains what happens after someone enters their email address.
- Button Text – The label on the login button (for example, “Email me a login link”).
- Expiration – How long each link works, in seconds. The default is 300 (five minutes). Increase this if your audience needs more time to open emails.
- Redirection URL (PRO) – Send people to a specific page after they sign in, such as a dashboard or course library.
Save your changes and the new text goes live immediately.
How the flow works for your customers
- They choose Continue with Email Link (or your custom label) and enter the email address tied to their account.
- Login Me Now confirms the account exists and emails a one-time link.
- The customer clicks the button in the email. The plugin verifies the token hasn’t expired or been tampered with and signs them in.
- They land on the page defined by your redirect rules—either the WordPress dashboard, the last visited page, or your custom URL.
Each link can be used only once. If it is opened again after a successful login, the customer will see a message asking them to request a fresh link.
Helpful tips
- Remind customers to check spam or promotions folders if they cannot find the message right away.
- Combine magic links with other providers (Google, Facebook, Phone OTP) so everyone can choose their favourite login path.
- Use an SMTP plugin or transactional email provider to improve deliverability and speed.
- Want branded emails? Pair the copy settings above with your SMTP service’s templates for custom colours, logos, and footers.
Troubleshooting checklist
- No email received – Verify the address exists in WordPress and confirm email delivery via your SMTP logs.
- Link expired – Increase the expiration value or coach customers to open the email promptly.
- Wrong redirect – Double-check any custom redirect plugins or the Redirection URL setting if you use the PRO add-on.
With these steps in place, magic links give your members a friendly, password-free way to return to your site.
